Dr Rajesh Rajendran is actively involved in Antibiotic Stewardship, including the development of evidence-based guidelines conducting antibiotic ward rounds and participating in surveillance and audits as prescribed by the DoH on antibiotic consumption to reduce antibiotic resistance.

As the Associate Medical Director for IPC he would have to ensure that standards are maintained within health care settings on all aspects of decontamination, sterilization of instruments and scopes and maintain theatre standards and ensure water quality and food quality for patients and health care. Dr Rajendran has presented numerous papers most recently on antimicrobial stewardship at the European Congress of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases.

Experience in management of infections

  • Associate Medical Director for Infection Prevention and Control for Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, with responsibility for all aspects of Infection Management, control, and Prevention.
  • Past chair of the Antibiotic Resistance Program Board for Cheshire and Merseyside.
  • Actively involved in the management of all infections and sepsis daily that include MRSA, C. difficile, VRE, and other healthcare-associated infections.
  • Management of infection like pneumonia, urinary tract infections, meningitis, bowel infections etc.
  • Post-operative infections including all types of surgical infections.
  • Management of communicable diseases like TB and other tropical infections.
  • As the infection control specialist experienced in the standards within Health care settings on all aspects of decontamination, sterilization of instruments and endoscopes.
  • Maintain theatre standards and ensure water quality and food quality for patients.
